Vratsata is a narrow gorge of the Leva River immediately southwest of Vratsa, on the road toward Zgorigrad. Its limestone walls rise more than 400 metres above the gorge. The gorge is a major Bulgarian climbing area, divided into the Central Wall, Eastern Massif and Zgorigrad Massif, with more than 400 established routes. Remains of the medieval Vratitsa fortress, dated to the 10th–12th centuries, survive within the gorge. The gorge can be approached on foot or by the paved road from Vratsa toward Zgorigrad, but current road, rockfall and trail conditions should be checked locally.
