The royal house was known as the Quiet Nest, and the ensemble combined villas, gardens, paths, adapted watermills, orchards, vineyards, and coastal terrain. Balchik returned to Bulgaria under the 1940 Treaty of Craiova. The adjacent botanical garden is one of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski’s three university botanical gardens.
