The park spans all of Malko Tarnovo Municipality, most of Tsarevo Municipality and a small part of Primorsko Municipality, containing 21 settlements. Its terrestrial territory is covered by Natura 2000 site BG0001007 Strandzha under the EU Habitats Directive. The park contains five strict reserves: Vitanovo, Uzunbudzhak, Sredoka, Tisovitsa and Silkosia. Habitats range from Black Sea coast, dunes, rivers and caves to grasslands and distinctive Pontic beech and oak forests. Routes can cross rugged, slippery terrain with sudden weather changes, sparse settlements and weak mobile coverage; avoid hiking alone and share a route plan. Reserve access rules differ: some areas require permits, guides or use of specified marked paths. Near the Turkish border, observe signs and current official instructions.
