South of Burgas, the coast becomes progressively wilder. Begin with the city's Sea Garden, then stop at Poda where a conservation centre overlooks a compact mosaic of freshwater, brackish and saline habitat. The centre sits beside a busy road, so confirm the current entrance and follow staff guidance rather than improvising access. Sozopol adds a dense historic counterpoint: its stone-and-wood houses, archaeology and cobbled lanes preserve the character of the old Black Sea town, though museums and monuments keep separate arrangements. The final three days belong to Strandzha. This is Bulgaria's largest nature park, with coast, rivers, caves and distinctive Pontic forests, but it is not an unrestricted playground. Reserve rules vary, some routes require guides or permits, mobile coverage can be weak and the Turkish border adds operational constraints. Use Sinemorets as a base and approach the Veleka estuary only by established legal paths. Dunes, riverbanks and wetland vegetation are sensitive, while storms and erosion can change access. The itinerary avoids promises about beaches, boats, parking or wildlife and leaves room to turn back when conditions demand it.
